Akron, Ohio, January 20, 2021 – Summit County Fiscal Officer Kristen M. Scalise CPA, CFE has announced that first half 2020 real estate tax bills will be mailed beginning Thursday, January 21, 2021. Taxpayers should be advised that the United States Post Office is currently experiencing large volumes of mail and frequent delays, which may impact tax bill and payment deliveries. Property owners are encouraged to take advantage of our online and phone payment system and utilize the e-check payment option, which requires a flat rate service fee of $1.

Akron, Ohio, November 23, 2020 – Summit County Fiscal Officer Kristen M. Scalise CPA, CFE would like to remind Summit County residents that dog licenses will be available for purchase beginning December 1, 2020 through January 31, 2021. The cost for a single year license is $18, a three-year license is $54, and a permanent license is $180. If a lost dog is brought to Summit County Animal Control wearing a license tag, staff can find the owner quickly and reunite the family and pet. If a citizen finds a lost dog and it is wearing a license tag, they can go to “Kristen’s Kanine Search” on the County website at https://fiscaloffice.summitoh.net/index.php/dog-licensing/dog-search and type in the license number and find the dog’s owner information.

Akron, Ohio, June 15, 2020 – Summit County Fiscal Officer Kristen M. Scalise CPA, CFE introduces the Fix-It Funds Home Improvement Loan Program to benefit the homeowners of Summit County. Qualifying homeowners can apply for low interest, fixed rate loans through Westfield Bank to fund large and small home improvement projects. Loan amounts can range from $5,000 to $50,000 and interest rates are up to 2% below the Bank's current rate.

The closing date for payment will be Friday, July 17, 2020, with the exception of military personnel. Property taxes are deferred for military reservists who are on active duty. The Tax Installment Payment (T.I.P.) Plan will be available to property owners who are unable to make payment for second half 2019 real estate taxes due in July. Enrollment in T.I.P. can help property owners avoid late payment penalties.

Akron, Ohio, February 13, 2020 – The Summit County Fiscal Office’s main branch, located in the Ohio Building at 175 S. Main St. in Akron, is open to taxpayers despite the downtown construction. Payments for first half 2019 real estate tax bills can be made in-person at the Treasurer Division (3rd floor) during regular business hours, Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

As part of the Main Street Corridor Construction Project, the Ohio Building is undergoing extensive work on its underground vaults. The sidewalk along Main St. will have limited access as the demolition and construction continues through February; however, the Main St. entrance to the Ohio Building will remain open for the duration of the work. An alternative entrance is also available through the Summit County Parking Deck, 200 S. High St., Akron.

First half 2019 real estate taxes are due on Friday, February 21, 2020. Summit County Fiscal Officer Kristen M. Scalise CPA, CFE offers several convenient ways to make payment, including online, in-person, by mail, by phone, at participating banks, and at MoneyGram locations.
