Akron, Ohio, March 6, 2019 – Free help will be available to Summit County homeowners who have fallen behind on the payment of property taxes during a Delinquent Property Tax Clinic on Thursday, March 21, 2019 from 1 to 6 p.m. at the OhioMeansJobs Center, 1040 E. Tallmadge Ave., Akron, Ohio 44310. The clinic will be hosted by Summit County Fiscal Officer Kristen M. Scalise CPA, CFE, HFLA of Northeast Ohio, Summit County Executive Ilene Shapiro’s Department of Job and Family Services, Fair Housing Contact Service, Inc., Akron Financial Empowerment Center, Mustard Seed Development Center, and Community Legal Aid.

Akron, Ohio, February 25, 2019 – Summit County Fiscal Officer Kristen M. Scalise CPA, CFE has announced that real estate tax relief will be available to residents who have sustained damage to their property in the wake of the recent storm. The Fiscal Office is taking the necessary steps to provide property owners the ability to file an Application for Valuation Deduction for Destroyed or Damaged Property (Form DTE 26), pursuant to Ohio Revised Code §319.38.

Akron, Ohio, January 23, 2019 – Summit County Fiscal Officer Kristen M. Scalise CPA, CFE has announced that she will offer federal workers affected by the government shutdown an extension to pay their first half 2018 real estate tax bill. Furloughed federal workers can request deferral of property taxes until they return to work. The request must be made by the closing date of payment for first half tax collection on February 15, 2019.

The closing date for payment will be Friday, February 15, 2019, with the exception of military personnel. Property taxes are deferred for military reservists who are on active duty.
