Akron, Ohio, December 11, 2019 – Fiscal Officer Kristen M. Scalise CPA, CFE warns dog owners about a potential dog licensing scam. The website ohdog-license.com is fraudulently selling dog tags online and claims to be an intermediate between users and the State of Ohio. Consumers are advised to purchase their county dog tag directly from the Summit County Fiscal Office, online at the Fiscal Office’s website https://FiscalOffice.summitoh.net, or at one of the following community locations:

Akron, Ohio, September 13, 2019 – Effective October 17, 2019, statewide recording fees for most documents will increase by $6.00 due to the enactment of HB 166 state budget legislation. The new recording fee for the first two pages will be $34.00 (previously $28.00). Each additional page remains the same as current law at $8.00. Half of all recording fees collected are required to be submitted to the state to the credit of the Ohio Housing Trust Fund.

Scalise CPA, CFE has announced that she will offer federal workers affected by the government shutdown an extension to pay their first half 2018 real estate tax bill. Furloughed federal workers can request deferral of property taxes until they return to work. The request must be made by the closing date of payment for first half tax collection on February 15, 2019.
