24 Hour Scheduled Maintenance starting at 4:30 PM on Friday, March 18 , 2016

As a part of our scheduled site maintenance and to improve the performance of our web sites, all Fiscal Office services will be will be unavailable for a span of 24 hours starting at 4:30pm on Friday, March 18, 2016. Some services may resume within the 24 hour period set aside for downtime. Fiscal Office Sites may display a bear with us notice or you will be informed “Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage” the website has not been restored at your location and may take a few more hours. This depends on your Internet Service Provider and the location you are accessing the website.

Weights and Measures Week March 1-7, Tips for Consumers

Summit County Fiscal Officer Kristen M. Scalise CPA, CFE has announced that the Fiscal Office will observe Weights and Measures Week on March 1-7, 2014. This week acknowledges the public servants who work vigorously to protect us as consumers and commemorates the first United States weights and measures law signed by John Adams on March 2, 1799. It is sponsored by the National Conference on Weights and Measures (NCWM).

 

Kristen M. Scalise CPA, CFE wins Certificate of Achievement for Financial Reporting

The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) has announced that the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting has been awarded to the County of Summit for its comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR). The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.

 

First half 2013 real estate tax bills due February 21

Scalise CPA, CFE would like to remind property owners that first half 2013 real estate taxes are due on Friday, February 21, 2014, with the exception of military personnel. Property taxes are deferred for military reservists who are on active duty. Applications can be obtained by calling (330)643-2641 or visiting our Military Assistance.

 

Last day to purchase 2014 dog license without penalty

Summit County Fiscal Officer Kristen M. Scalise CPA, CFE reminds dog owners that the last day to purchase a dog license without penalty is Friday, January 31, 2014. Citizens who fail to meet the deadline will be required to pay an $18 late fee.

 

First half 2013 real estate tax bills to be mailed, due on February 21

Summit County Fiscal Officer Kristen M. Scalise CPA, CFE has announced that first half 2013 real estate tax bills will be mailed starting Friday, January 17, 2014.

The closing date for payment will be Friday, February 21, 2014, with the exception of military personnel. Property taxes are deferred for military reservists who are on active duty. Applications can be obtained by calling 330-643-2641 or visiting Military Assistance.

 

Filing a complaint against valuation of real estate, deadline March 31

Fiscal Officer Kristen M. Scalise CPA, CFE reminds taxpayers that the Board of Revision will be accepting complaints against the valuation of their real estate beginning January 1, 2014. The deadline to file a complaint form (DTE 1) is March 31, 2014.

 

Licensed Dog of the Day Facebook campaign

Summit County Fiscal Officer Kristen M. Scalise CPA, CFE invites dog owners in Summit County to submit a photograph of their pet to be featured in the “Licensed Dog of the Day” campaign on Facebook. The campaign is intended to bring awareness about dog registration and remind dog owners to purchase their 2014 dog license before January 31, 2014.

 

Veteran Identification cards in Stow-Munroe Falls and Macedonia

Scalise CPA, CFE is pleased to announce additional locations where veterans can obtain the new veteran identification card.  Fiscal Office staff will be on-hand at the Stow-Munroe Falls Public Library, 3512 Darrow Rd. in Stow on Monday, December 2 and Macedonia Family Recreation Center, 1494 E. Aurora Rd. in Macedonia on Thursday, December 5.  Both appearances will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Summit County Fiscal Officer Kristen M. Scalise CPA, CFE announces that the review phase of the state mandated 2014 Reappraisal will move into the city of Akron. It is estimated that county appraisers will be in the area for approximately three to four weeks.

 

Homestead Exemption at Acme Fresh Markets, branch libraries and malls

Summit County Fiscal Officer Kristen M. Scalise CPA, CFE announces that her staff will enroll homeowners for Homestead Exemption at several convenient locations throughout the county this fall. With the passage of the state biennial budget (House Bill 59), beginning with tax year 2014 new participants will be subject to a means test.
