These property tax reductions provide a significant savings to property owners in Summit County.
Summit County Fiscal Officer Kristen M. Scalise CPA, CFE is pleased to announce that she will return $4,644,900 in tax dollars to local taxing authorities. School districts are the major benefactor of the refund, receiving a total of $2,986,840.99. The money is a credit of the Real Estate Assessment Fund and will be distributed in early May.

Summit County Fiscal Officer Kristen M. Scalise CPA, CFE reminds dog owners that the statutory deadline to purchase a 2015 dog license is Saturday, January 31, 2015. Since the deadline falls on a weekend, dog owners may purchase a license without penalty through Monday, February 2, 2015. Citizens who fail to renew their dog license by the deadline will be required to pay an $18 late fee.

The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.

The Fiscal Office will host an unclaimed funds information table at participating Acme Fresh Markets during the last two weeks of October. Summit County Fiscal Officer Kristen M. Scalise CPA, CFE has announced that real estate tax relief will be available to property owners who have sustained damage in the wake of the recent storm. Fiscal Officer Scalise’s office is taking the necessary steps to provide property owners the ability to file an Application for Valuation Deduction for Destroyed or Damaged Property (Form DTE 26), pursuant to Ohio Revised Code §319.38.
