Akron, Ohio, June 1, 2018 – Summit County Fiscal Officer Kristen M. Scalise CPA, CFE has announced that second half 2017 real estate tax bills will be mailed beginning Monday, June 11, 2018. The closing date for payment will be Friday, July 20, 2018, with the exception of military personnel. Real estate taxes are deferred for military reservists who are on active duty. Applications can be obtained by calling 330-643-8088 or visiting our website at http://fiscaloffice.summitoh.net.

Scalise CPA, CFE has announced that real estate tax relief will be available to residents who have sustained damage to their property in the wake of the recent storm. The Fiscal Office is taking the necessary steps to provide property owners the ability to file an Application for Valuation Deduction for Destroyed or Damaged Property (Form DTE 26), pursuant to Ohio Revised Code §319.38.

The closing date for payment will be Friday, February 23, 2018, with the exception of military personnel. Property taxes are deferred for military reservists who are on active duty. Property tax payments may be made early for the 2017 real estate tax bill only. Since tax bills will not be prepared until January 2018 (due in February 2018), we suggest basing the amount of your early payment on past tax bills. Please note that our office cannot provide tax advice. If you have questions about whether the early payment may be used for tax purposes, we advise you to contact a finance professional.

Akron, Ohio, October 10, 2017 – Summit County residents are invited to attend a landlord-tenant open house on Saturday, October 21, 2017 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Arlington Church of God, 539 S. Arlington St., Akron, OH 44306.  Qualified representatives will be on-hand to discuss tenant rights under Ohio landlord-tenant law, answer questions about getting repairs to property, and review the tax foreclosure process.

Akron, Ohio, September 29, 2017 – Summit County Fiscal Officer Kristen M. Scalise CPA, CFE is searching for owners of over $3.1 million in county unclaimed funds.  The Fiscal Office will host an unclaimed funds table at participating Acme Fresh Markets during the last two weeks of October.  Staff will be on-hand to search for citizens’ names in the unclaimed funds database and assist with filing a claim to recover monies owed to them.
