Akron, Ohio – Summit County Fiscal Officer Kristen M. Scalise CPA, CFE, has announced a third billing for parcels with delinquent taxes. Mailing of the third billing began on Friday, September 26, 2025.
Closing date for payment will be Friday, October 31, 2025. Failure to pay by the due date may result in publishing the taxpayer’s name in a newspaper publication as required by law.
On December 1, 2025, statutory interest will be charged against any unpaid taxes. If your mortgage lender or someone else is responsible for your real estate tax payment, you must contact them immediately and forward the tax bill to them. Ohio law states that it is the taxpayer’s responsibility to obtain and pay their tax bill on time.
There are several convenient ways for property owners to make payment:
1. In-person: Payments can be made in person at our temporary location, Summit County Fiscal Office, Treasurer Division, 1030 E. Tallmadge Ave., Akron, Ohio 44310. Office hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
2. By mail: Mailed payments must be U.S. postmarked by Friday, October 31, 2025. A private meter is not valid for establishing the date of payment.
3. Online or by phone: Tax bills can be paid online or by phone through a secure payment service provided by ACI Payments, Inc. Taxpayers will need their parcel number on hand. A nominal service fee will be charged by ACI Payments, Inc. if paying via debit or credit card, or a $1 fee if paying via electronic check. To pay taxes online or by phone, go to https://fiscaloffice.summitoh.net/index.php/on-line-tax-payments.
4. Drop Box Location: Taxpayers can submit tax payments by using the drop box located at 1030 E. Tallmadge Ave. in Akron, during regular building hours, Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Any payments made through the drop box that creates an overage will be applied to the next tax bill.
Assistance is available to property owners who have outstanding delinquent real estate taxes. The Delinquent Tax Payment Program provides assistance to individuals who have fallen behind on their real estate tax payments. By entering into a written delinquent tax contract, property owners will establish a monthly payment, and unpaid taxes will not be subject to further penalty or interest. For more information about the Delinquent Tax Payment Program, please call (330)-643-2600.
