Akron, Ohio – Summit County Fiscal Officer Kristen M. Scalise CPA, CFE, has announced that her office in conjunction with Councilman Brandon Ford and Councilwoman Bethany McKenney, will host a Property Tax Programs & Veteran ID Clinic on Thursday, September 4, 2025, from 10 to 2 p.m. at the Kenmore Community Center, 880 Kenmore Blvd., Akron, OH 44314.
Individuals who attend the clinic will have the opportunity to meet with representatives from the Summit County Fiscal Office to discuss and apply for various property tax programs, such as the Homestead Exemption and Owner-Occupancy Credit. The Homestead Exemption is available to homeowners who are 65 years or older, homeowners who are permanently or totally disabled, military veterans who have received a total 100% disability rating for service-connected disabilities, and spouses of fallen responders who passed away in the line of duty.
To qualify, the homeowner’s modified Ohio adjusted gross income of the applicant and spouse must not exceed $40,000. Applicants must own or live in the home as a primary resident on January 1 of the year of application. Applicants must provide proof of age and current residency by bringing a valid Ohio driver’s license or state-issued ID card to the event. The Fiscal Office will also issue Veteran Identification Cards at no cost during this event. To be eligible for an ID card, veterans must present a valid DD214 displaying an honorable discharge status and two forms of proper identification (one of which must contain a photograph).
