Scalise CPA, CFE has announced that the listing phase for the state mandated 2020 Sexennial Reappraisal will begin on July 16, 2018. During the listing phase, every property in Summit County will be physically evaluated.
Site visits will begin in various communities throughout the county. Residents should be aware that county appraisers could be in their area from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays. Appraisers will not enter homes or other structures. They can be identified by their identification badge, uniform, and marked car.
Fiscal Officer Scalise has stated that if a homeowner is not home during the day, staff will leave a door hanger notifying the property owner of our visit.
As the project continues to move into other communities of Summit County, our staff will notify city and township officials. The listing phase of the 2020 reappraisal is expected to take about 18 months to complete.
Real property in Summit County is assessed every three years. State law mandates that a sexennial reappraisal be performed (every six years), with the most recent effective in tax year 2014. The Fiscal Office recently completed their triennial update in tax year 2017.
