Akron, Ohio, October 20, 2017 – Summit County Fiscal Officer Kristen M. Scalise CPA, CFE has announced a third billing for parcels with delinquent taxes. The third billing will be mailed beginning Friday, October 20, 2017.

Closing date for payment will be Wednesday, November 22, 2017. Failure to pay by the due date may result in publishing the taxpayer’s name in a newspaper publication as required by law.

On December 1, 2017 statutory interest will be charged against any unpaid taxes. If your mortgage lender or someone else is responsible for your real estate tax payment, you must contact them immediately and forward the tax bill to them. Ohio law states that it is the taxpayer’s responsibility to obtain and pay their tax bill on time.

There are many convenient ways to make payment:

  1. Taxes can be paid in-person Monday through Friday, from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Summit County Fiscal Office, Treasurer Division, 175 S. Main St., 3rd floor, Akron, Ohio 44308.
  2. Tax payments can be mailed. Those payments must be U.S. postmarked by November 22, 2017.
  3. Taxes can be paid online or by phone with a credit card or e-check. Payments are processed by Official Payments Corp., which charges a nominal service fee. This fee does not come back to the county in any way. Please visit On-Line Tax Payments for instructions.
  4. Cash payments can be made through MoneyGram, a payment service offered at 35,000 locations nationwide. MoneyGram payments are processed through Official Payments Corp., which charges a nominal service fee and provides guaranteed same-day transactions. To locate a MoneyGram location, visit www.officialpayments.com or call 1-800-MoneyGram.

Property owners who are no longer enrolled in an escrow program will need to update their tax mailing address to ensure future bills are mailed directly to them. Changes to a tax mailing address must be submitted to our office in writing, in accordance with state law. Written requests should contain the following information: a.) name of the property owner, b.) address or parcel number of the property, and c.) address where you would like the tax bill mailed. This information can be submitted by email at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or regular mail to Summit County Fiscal Office, Treasurer Division, 175 S. Main St., 3rd floor, Akron, Ohio 44308.
