Akron, Ohio, July 24, 2017-Summit County Fiscal Officer Kristen M. Scalise CPA, CFE is pleased to announce that the 2017 triennial update appraisal has concluded and new property value notices will be mailed to owner-occupied, residential property owners beginning Monday, July 24, 2017.

Real property in Summit County is assessed every three years. State law mandates that a sexennial reappraisal be performed every six years. The most recent was effective in tax year 2014. The Fiscal Office performs a triennial update between each sexennial reappraisal. Since taxes are paid one year in arrears, the value changes from the triennial update will be reflected on tax bills mailed in January 2018.

During the 2017 triennial update, appraisers analyzed sales ratio reports to determine how values have changed since the 2014 sexennial reappraisal. Once the analysis was complete and a determination made, value changes were applied accordingly.

Fiscal Office staff will be available to address questions and concerns during scheduled community meetings throughout Summit County. Property owners are encouraged to attend a meeting for the opportunity to speak individually with a county appraiser.

Community meetings will be held from 1 to 8 p.m. at the following locations:
