Summit County Fiscal Officer Kristen M. Scalise CPA, CFE has announced that the veteran identification card will be available to military veterans at participating venues throughout Summit County. The card is similar in size and shape to a driver’s license and can conveniently serve in place of the military discharge form DD214. Renewal cards will be available to those who hold a card expiring in 2017.

Fiscal Office staff will be at the following locations to issue cards and answer questions about real estate tax programs:

To be eligible for the card, veterans must present a valid DD214 displaying an honourable discharge status and two forms of proper identification (one of which must contain a photograph): original or certified birth certificate; identification card issued by the United States Department of Veteran Affairs; United States military identification card; social security card; license or permit to carry a concealed weapon issued by this state or any other state; motor vehicle operator’s license issued by this state or any other state that bears a photograph of the licensee; identification card issued by the state or any other state that bears a photograph of individual identified; or valid passport that bears a photograph of the individual to whom the passport was issued. The fee for the card is $1.

Summit County veterans can also purchase a card during regular business hours at the Summit County Fiscal Office, Recorder Division, 4th floor, 175 S. Main St., Akron 44308. For more information, visit Veteran Identification Cards or call 330-643-2719.
