Ohio Auditor of State Dave Yost presented the award to Fiscal Officer Scalise on Friday, September 18, 2015.
“Taxpayers expect accurate financial records from their local governments,” Auditor Yost said. “Summit County’s dedication to accountability is evident.”
The Summit County Fiscal Office is tasked with preparing all internal and external financial reports for the county. Under the direction of Fiscal Officer Scalise, it successfully invests and safeguards over $1 billion annually.
“Receiving this award confirms our commitment to excellent financial management,” Fiscal Officer Scalise said. “My office has created many internal controls and written policies to ensure all monies processed are accounted for to the penny, daily.”
To qualify for the Auditor of State Award with Distinction, entities must file financial reports with the Auditor of State’s Office in the form of a CAFR (Comprehensive Annual Financial Report). The reports are required to meet specific criteria and receive a clean audit.
