Fiscal Office staff will be available to address questions and concerns during scheduled community meetings throughout Summit County. Property owners are encouraged to attend the meetings for an opportunity to speak individually with a county appraiser. Meetings will be held in Fairlawn, Green, Stow, Cuyahoga Falls and Kenmore beginning September 2, 2014, and concluding on October 15, 2014.
Ohio law mandates that our office assess all real estate situated in Summit County every six years. By law, each parcel’s value must be set at market value for tax year 2014. Since taxes are one year in arrears, the value changes will be reflected on tax bills mailed in January 2015.
To determine fair and accurate real property values, county appraisers divided residential properties into appraisal "neighborhoods." Parcels within these neighborhoods shared common characteristics and were affected by similar influences. Appraisers then analyzed sales ratio reports to determine how values have changed since the last reappraisal. Once that determination was made, a value adjustment was applied to all homes in the neighborhood.
Fiscal Officer Scalise invites concerned property owners to attend one of the following community meetings. All meetings will take place between 1 to 8 p.m.
