Summit County Fiscal Officer Kristen M. Scalise CPA, CFE reminds dog owners that the last day to purchase a dog license without penalty is Friday, January 31, 2014. Citizens who fail to meet the deadline will be required to pay an $18 late fee.

2014 Summit County Dog Licenses cost $18 each. This year, the State of Ohio is requiring counties to offer two new licensing options. The County of Summit will be offering a three-year license for $54.00 and a permanent license for $180.00, in addition to the one-year license. Dog owners may purchase licenses at the following county government office buildings:

Kennel owners must also renew their licenses during the same time period; the cost is $80 per license. Licenses for dogs providing assistance to citizens with disabilities are free of charge and valid throughout the duration of the animal's life. Proof of training must be submitted.

The Ohio Revised Code requires citizens who own, keep or harbor a dog more than three months of age to purchase a county dog license. Dog licenses can be purchased online and at participating retail venues. For more information, visit Dog Licensing. Residents without internet access may call our office at 330-630-7226.
