Summit County Fiscal Officer Kristen M. Scalise CPA, CFE has announced that her office will now offer a wallet-size veteran identification card. The new veteran identification card will serve as an alternative to the Armed Forces Discharge record known as a DD Form 214, or DD214.
“I am proud to be among the first in Ohio to provide this service to our veterans,” said Fiscal Officer Scalise. “We have made the process of getting a card very simple and convenient. This is a great example of how my office continues to bring innovative programs to the citizens of Summit County.”
The veteran identification card offers many benefits to its holder. It is similar in size and appearance to a driver’s license, so it conveniently fits into a wallet. The card can be used by veterans to identify their status. It is accepted at retail establishments to obtain veteran discounts and incentives, and the card has a magnetic strip which can be read by card readers with just a swipe.
Summit County veterans can purchase a veteran identification card beginning Tuesday, May 28, 2013. The fee for a card is $1. Veteran identification cards must be purchased in-person at the Summit County Fiscal Office, Recorder Division, 4th floor, 175 S. Main St., Akron 44308. For more information, please call the Recorder Division at (330)643-2715.
