Fiscal Officer Donofrio announces new Abandoned Property Program;

Summit County Fiscal Officer John A. Donofrio has announced his office is introducing an outreach program to help identify and verify abandoned properties throughout Summit County.

Summit County Fiscal Officer John A. Donofrio reminds taxpayers that the second half 2009 Real Estate tax deadline is Friday, July 16, 2010. Residential homeowners who are unable to pay second half taxes can enroll in our Tax Installment Program and make monthly installment payments. Homestead Exemption and 2.5% Tax Reduction deadline approaching;

Summit County Fiscal Officer John A. Donofrio has announced today that the deadline for filing an application for Homestead Exemption and the 2.5% Tax Reduction for tax year 2009 is Monday, June 7, 2010.  Real estate taxes are one year in arrears.  Applications are available in our office or online the first Monday in January until the first Monday in June.

The Home Affordable Modification Program is designed to help as many as 3 to 4 million financially struggling homeowners avoid foreclosure by modifying loans to a level that is affordable for borrowers now and sustainable over the long term. The program provides clear and consistent loan modification guidelines that the entire mortgage industry can use.

The closing date for payment will be Friday, July 16, 2010 with the exception of military personnel. Property taxes are deferred for military reservists who are on active duty. Applications can be obtained by calling 330-643-8091 or visit Military Assistance

Summit County Fiscal Officer John A. Donofrio is pleased to announce his office is again offering his Tax Installment Plan for homeowners. The program provides relief through monthly installment payments for residential homeowners who are facing financial difficulties because of our ongoing economic conditions.

Summit County Fiscal Officer John A. Donofrio has announced 2010 dog licenses will be available for purchase as of December 1, 2009. 2010 license renewal forms are being mailed to dog owners the week of December 1, 2009. Dog licenses cost $14. Ohio law requires licenses to be renewed between December 1 and January 31 each year. A late fee equal to the cost of the license will be charged for applications received after January 31, 2010.

It is a series of public service announcements to provide residents with more information regarding due dates for real estate taxes, dog licenses, homestead exemption applications and Board of Revision complaints.
