Your Family Matters (1.56 MB)

Your Family Matters: Options to Protect Your Heirs and Assets is a free community program providing tools to help the citizens of Summit County plan for the future. The program discusses options available to you, without the assistance of a third party, which may protect your property and assets upon inheritance.

Your Family Matters was developed through the collaborative efforts of Fiscal Officer Kristen M. Scalise CPA, CFE, Probate Court Judge Elinore Marsh Stormer and Clerk of Courts Sandra Kurt. The hour-long presentation will provide you answers to questions about deeds, probate court, vehicle titles and more.

  • What is Probate?
  • Why do I need a will?
  • What is the difference between Transfer on Death and Pay on Death?
  • What is the difference between a beneficiary and a joint owner?
  • What happens to my Homestead Exemption if I die?
